Mr. Gabriel Abiad

Vice President for Institutional Advancement for Lebanon and the Middle East

Mr. Gabriel Abiad (92‘, ‘97) serves as Vice President for Institutional Advancement for Lebanon and the Middle East.

In this role, he leads the university’s advancement program based in Lebanon, working closely with the President and the Vice President for Global Advancement to ensure all reputational, philanthropic and alumni relations efforts are aligned and executed at a high level of reflect the excellence of the university.

Gabriel oversees four departments: the Development Office, the Strategic Communications Department, the Advancement Services Department and the Alumni Relations Office.

Given the university’s strategic plans and the situation in Lebanon, this role is critical to engage LAU’s internal and external community of students, alumni, friends, faculty and staff to understand and support LAU’s goals, mission and challenges.

Prior to serving in this role, Gabriel led LAU’s communications for several years as Assistant Vice President for Strategic Communications.

Gabriel has earned a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from LAU, and a Graduate Diploma in Adult Education from Concordia University.

Before joining LAU’s ranks, Gabriel built a career in marketing, advertising, business development and consulting in Lebanon and in Canada.
