Mr. Michel Chahine

Assistant Vice President for Finance – Operations

Mr. Michel Chahine was appointed as Assistant Vice President for Finance-Operations (AVP Finance - Operations) on December 1, 2021.

An LAUer throughout, his experience spans over 30 years in the service of the university. Starting off as a cashier on Byblos campus in 1991, Mr. Chahine went on to obtain a Master of Business Administration from LAU in 1996, after which his leadership in operations, technology and business services earned him key roles as accountant, student account supervisor, and eventually as comptroller, a post that he has held for the past 12 years.

In his last role, Mr. Chahine ensured accuracy and stringent conformity with laws and regulations in all reporting, maintained a high level of internal controls throughout and excelled at managing and controlling cash flows. Mr. Chahine has served on various executive committees including the Strategic Planning Oversight Committee, the Medical School Launching Committee, the Tuition Fee Structure Committee, the Banner Steering Committee and the Financial Aid Council.

During those 12 years, Mr. Chahine built an exceptional and diverse finance and operations experience in higher education, developing and implementing LAU’s strategic priorities and objectives. This unique standpoint, in addition to his established partnership with colleagues at the university, bring invaluable knowledge and experience to his role.
