To Educate, Serve and Unite
Dear LAU supporters, dear alumni, dear friends,
These are difcult times in Lebanon and our community has come together again to respond to the challenges. You, our friends and alumni, are one of the reasons we are able to do so, and I wanted to keep you updated on our current and future actions.
LAU and LAU Medical Centers are co-leading initiatives to provide immediate help to those aficted. Two mobile clinics stafed with LAU physicians, faculty and staf from our medical, pharmaceutical, and nursing schools are providing critical primary care to the displaced. Our students are volunteering with NGOs ofering humanitarian aid to those in need. And our alumni are raising funds and collecting medicine for the displaced as well as to provide much-needed financial aid for our students.
These eforts are only possible because of the partnership with many supporters and friends within Lebanon and abroad, and the support of our Board of Trustees.
And while we are engaged with communities outside the walls of our campuses, we remain focused on our primary mission: to ensure the progress and academic success of our students.
Thanks to the dedication and agility of our support staf and faculty, we were quickly able to transition into online learning, and this week, we switched into a hybrid learning environment; in-person, online synchronous and asynchronous instruction modalities are being utilized to maximize learning opportunities, while prioritizing the safety of our students and faculty and balancing their diverse needs and constraints.
Whether instructing online or in-person, LAU’s mission remains the same: to educate, serve, and unite. Many of our community members are sufering from displacement, grief, anxiety, or injury, and we continue to do our utmost to assist them and to help in their healing and recovery. As we move forward, I urge you once again to stay connected and in touch. We will get through this dark period together.
