COVID-19 and Online Classes
Dear LAU Students,
I am writing to share further information following our President’s email on Saturday regarding the continued suspension of classes and postponing formal in-class exams until March 15, 2020. As Dr. Jabbra noted, many courses will be active online and course materials will be provided through various online platforms. These measures will help us ensure the continuity of the learning process while safeguarding your well-being during this challenging time.
I would like to inform you that LAU faculty members are doing their best to continue the learning process remotely whenever possible. Each school is assessing all their offered courses to check which could be delivered online and which must be postponed until the safety concerns of COVID-19 are alleviated. It is also important to note that some faculty members will be scheduling online exams or other means of remote assessment. This is an important measure to avoid cramming all your exams during the last few weeks of the semester. Kindly report to your course instructor any accessibility issue you may experience, and they will consider scheduling make-up exams when classes resume.
Finally, I want to note that university research activities will continue. For students engaged in research, please continue to take preventive measures, including social distancing, frequent handwashing, staying home when sick, using technology in place of in-person meetings when appropriate, etc.
I wish you safety and well-being.
Sincerely,
George Nasr
Provost
