Message to Faculty-Continuity of Teaching/Learning
Dear Faculty,
Thank you for the excellent job you are doing to deliver rich learning experiences in these tragic and uncertain times.
As we do not know what the future might hold, we encourage you to adopt the following best practices for teaching preparedness:
- Upload to Blackboard as many reference materials (e.g. textbooks/textbook chapters, articles) as possible in PDF while abiding by fair-use standards. (Consult the LAU Libraries should you have questions about fair-use.)
- Provide as many weeks of course content as possible, in PDF.
- Provide, if possible, a calendar or study plan for your course, in PDF.
- Select settings on course content and embedded videos that allow students to download the content to their own devices.
- Consider recording lab sessions scheduled for later in the semester as a backup plan should lab access become difficult.
- Encourage your students to download course content so that they have a locally stored copy should internet access become problematic.
The CIL is always happy to support you in enacting any of these recommendations; just reach out via cil@lau.edu.lb or through the LAU CIL EDMS form.
Sincerely,
George Nasr, Ph.D.
Provost
