Strategic Research Review Committee
Mandate
The Strategic Research Review Committee (SRRC) is an ad-hoc committee, mandated by the Provost to review all research funding applications, in order to ensure that research support provided to faculty is directly correlated with the strategic plan of enhancing LAU’s visibility and rankings. In line with SP-IV, this committee provides support to faculty and effectively assists in building intellectual capital at the levels of faculty, schools and the institution as a whole.
Composition
The Strategic Research Review Committee is composed of full-time faculty at the Associate Professor or Professor level, possessing strong scholarly and research records. Except for the committee chair, members may not hold administrative roles.
The SRRC members are appointed by the Provost in consultation with the Council of Deans, with at least one representative from each school. The Dean of Graduate Studies and Research is ex-officio, non-voting member of the committee.
Term
The appointment term is one year, renewable upon the approval of the Provost.
Method of Operation
The Strategic Research Review Committee is tasked with reviewing research funding applications from all schools. It is in charge for a period of 3 years of reviewing all applications for research funding, including travel grants, research grants and summer fellowship, and publication fees. The SRRC shall make its recommendation on these funding applications to the concerned school dean. In case of discrepancy between the SRRC and dean recommendations, the Provost shall take final action.
