Before you apply 

Step 1: Choose the right major 

It is important that you choose the right major by combining what you like to do with what you are good at. View the majors LAU offers, and if you need help with choosing your major, this guide might help you. 

Step 2: View the required Grade 12 subjects for specific majors

The tables below specify the subjects required for majors according to the different diplomas.

Lebanese and French Baccalaureate diploma holders

Major Required subjects in Grade 12
Architecture Math (required) and Physics (highly recommended)
Bioinformatics (pre-med) Math (required) and Biology (highly recommended); alternatively, Physics or Chemistry
Biology (pre-med) Biology and Chemistry
Chemistry (pre-med) Math and Chemistry

Engineering majors Math and Physics 
Chemistry is desirable for students applying to Petroleum Engineering.

Step 4: Prepare the required documents and pass entrance exams

All applicants are required to submit the below. To gain time, scan the documents to attach them to the online application. 

  1. A recent passport-size photo.
  2. A clear photocopy of your identity card or passport (of the nationality to be used in the registration process at LAU).
  3. A clear photocopy of your Family Civil Status record (For Lebanese and Arab nationals)
  4. Official transcript from schools you attended in the last three years. If your grades from the last year or semester are not available when you apply, they should be sent as soon as they are available. 
  5. Certified copies of all official certificates or diplomas when available.
    Students with non-Lebanese diplomas must also submit the Equivalence of Lebanese Baccalaureate from the Ministry of Education (find out how).
  6. Official SAT I or ACT scores. Learn how to send your SAT scores.
    For sophomore applicants, SAT and ACT tests are optional. Student admission is based on high school grades and a proof of English proficiency.
    If you have taken or will take the SAT exam, the scores will be considered for Merit, Entrance, and SAT scholarships while the SAT I Writing section or the SAT I Evidence-Based Reading and Writing will be considered as proof of English proficiency. 
  7. Proof of English proficiency by submitting one of the below:
  1. If you are a U.S citizen or U.S. Green Card holder you must submit along with the application the W-9S form that can be downloaded from the IRS website, with proof of your social security number. With this information, LAU is able to provide U.S. students (or parents of dependent students) with Form 1098-T that is used for American tax related purposes.

Step 1: Fill out and submit your application

Prepare your documents and apply online. You can do so through the LAU online application or via Common App:

Step 3: Activate your Portal

After you apply and you pay your application fees, you will receive an email within 3 to 10 working days to the email address you filled out in your admission application. This email will contain your unique username and tentative password and the steps you need to follow to activate your Portal account.
