Emergency Relief for Lebanon

Humanitarian Organizations

Lebanon’s many humanitarian organizations are actively assisting the displaced with urgent aid such as providing food, temporary shelter, clothing. LAU is encouraging the community at large to assist them in their mission by either donating gifts-in-kind, or donating to them directly. LAU has worked with several organizations although we do not have governance oversight.

Ahla Fawda

At Ahla Fawda, responding to crises in our country has always been one of our top priorities. For the past 11 years we have responded to every crisis in the country creating tailored solutions for those in need. During the refugee crisis, the COVID pandemic, economic crisis, the devastating port explosion and earthquakes, we distributed food, clothes, and basic necessities to those in need.

Once again, we find ourselves facing an urgent situation. We’ve relaunched our relief mission, operating a clothing distribution center and stocking our mini market with essential food supplies. Currently, we are assisting around 1,000 displaced civilians from the South, who are seeking refuge in three schools. While we have enough food to support 500 families for the next two weeks, we need your help to sustain and expand our efforts.

We urgently need donations of hygiene products, baby milk, diapers, canned food, toothpaste, toothbrushes, blankets, and mattresses. We are also accepting monetary funds from those who can in order to support our operations.

We appreciate all donations from any kind and thank you in advance for your support. For more information, please contact us at: +961 81 687 749.

LACODE

Professor Hussein Hassan has been spearheading a relief campaign for displaced individuals in Northern Bekaa through the NGO he leads, the Lebanese Association for Coexistence and Development (LACODE), registered since 2014 (#942). Every contribution helps us reach more vulnerable citizens. To donate, you can use LACODE’s Whish account (210-17974-03) or contact Dr. Hassan on 71-191445. LAU Alumni – Beirut Chapter

In light of the challenges many Lebanese families are facing, the Beirut Chapter of the LAU Alumni Association has taken the initiative to support displaced families who have sought refuge in Beirut. To make this effort a success, the chapter needs to raise funds and gain exposure to maximize donations. Their beneficiaries include displaced Lebanese families, among them members of the broader LAU community, who are living in temporary shelters. The focus is on two key areas of support:

Your generous contributions can help provide vital assistance to those in need. For more information or to provide support please contact Mr. Hussein Mansour via email at Hussein.mansour@lau.edu or by phone at 76-304405 or 03-079997.

Lebanese Red Cross

In response to the crisis, and also in alignment with its peacetime missions, the Lebanese Red Cross essentially focuses on the following priorities:

  1. Ambulance response and Search & Rescue: our ambulance volunteers are currently on the frontline of the response in all areas and also help to evacuate hospitals who are overflowing.
  2. Blood transfusion services: wounded who need blood rely on the Red Cross to supply safe blood units
  3. Primary healthcare: we provide medications and physician consultations, with a focus on chronic diseases. Currently we are deploying mobile clinics to provide care to those who are displaced.
  4. Disaster preparedness and response: we provide relief to the displaced in the form of blankets, shelter assistance, food items, hygiene items, and water & sanitation services

MedGlobal

emergency-med-global-logo.pngMedGlobal is a humanitarian organization dedicated to providing essential healthcare services to vulnerable populations around the world. Since 2018, MedGlobal has been active in Lebanon, offering critical medical assistance to underprivileged Lebanese communities and Syrian refugees. Its presence expanded significantly after the Beirut port explosion in 2020, leading to the establishment of key healthcare initiatives, including supporting healthcare facilities in the Bekaa Valley and launching Lebanon’s first mobile mental health clinic.

Amid the current devastating crisis, which has displaced over 600,000 people, MedGlobal remains committed to delivering urgent healthcare and relief services. The organization has intensified its emergency efforts by distributing essential supplies, such as blankets, children’s clothing, and medical supplies, to shelters in Choueifat, Salim Slem, and Jnah. In addition, MedGlobal is coordinating medical assessments for children with special needs and the elderly, while preparing to deliver critical medications and medical equipment. With Lebanon’s healthcare system under immense strain, MedGlobal’s work is crucial in meeting the rising demand for medical assistance, especially for those with chronic conditions.

To further enhance its response, MedGlobal is preparing to deploy a mobile medical unit that will distribute essential medications directly to shelters, ensuring displaced families have access to life-saving treatment. This initiative will be carried out in partnership with local pharmacies, health authorities, and community healthcare providers. The mobile unit aims to alleviate the pressure on Lebanon’s healthcare infrastructure and provide critical care to the most vulnerable populations.

To sustain these vital efforts, MedGlobal urgently needs financial and material support from local and international partners. Donations will enable the organization to continue providing life-saving healthcare services and to expand its reach to those most in need. If you would like to support MedGlobal’s emergency response or explore collaboration opportunities, please contact them at info@medglobal.org or visit their website: https://medglobal.org/lebanon/.
