Position Summary
The Department of Psychology and Education in the School of Arts and Sciences at the Lebanese American University (LAU) invites applicants to an Open Rank faculty position. The Department is interested in highly qualified and motivated applicants who are committed to innovative teaching, research, and program development. Candidates will teach undergraduate and graduate courses of education. Applicants should have a proven research track record. Expertise in Science Education or Special Education/Giftedness is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Teach introductory and advanced education courses across BS, TD and MA programs
- Actively engage in research
- Supervise MA theses, projects and senior study projects
- Supervise student-teachers on school sites
- Advise and mentor students and support student research and projects
- Engage in service to the program, the department, the university, the profession, and the community
- Additional duties may be set by the department in light of departmental needs and priorities.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education from a recognized university.
- Evidence of scholarship and research productivity.
- Evidence of relevant successful university teaching.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Science Education focus (or equivalent)
- Special Education and Giftedness focus
- Experience in program accreditation
- Evidence of K-12 teaching experience
- Ability to develop grant proposals
The Department
The Department of Psychology and Education is an interdisciplinary department with faculty committed to high-quality undergraduate and graduate instruction across programs. Our department offers two undergraduate programs, one in Psychology and one in Education; one graduate program in Education. We also offer Teaching Diplomas and a Diploma in Learning Disabilities and Giftedness.
