Position Summary
The Department of Political Science and International Studies (POLIS) at the School of Arts and Sciences, Lebanese American University, invites applications for a Visiting Faculty position in Conflict Resolution at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. This appointment is for a duration of one or two years, with the possibility of renewal as a full-time tenure-track position.
The department seeks a highly qualified and motivated candidate who is committed to excellence in innovative teaching, impactful research, and dedicated academic advising. The ideal candidate will also actively contribute to institutional development and community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Conflict Resolution in both campuses
- Supervise senior study and MA thesis students
- Advise and mentor students
- Engage in service to the department, the university and the profession
- Contribute to the development of the program and seek external grants
- Additional duties may be set by the department in light of departmental needs and priorities.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- A PhD in Conflict Resolution from a well-recognized University
- Specialization in diplomacy, negotiation, and mediation
- Evidence of quantitative and qualitative research preparation
- Evidence of research and publication record
- Evidence of successful teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Evidence of success in securing external funding for research
- Expertise in any aspect of identity driven conflicts and cross-cultural communications

Their expertise spans key areas such as Middle East and North African studies, security studies, Islamic studies, legal studies, conflict resolution, and governance. Through a dynamic blend of lectures, discussions, case studies, and experiential learning, students are encouraged to think critically and apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges.
