Postdoctoral Position in Biophysical Chemistry
The Biophysical Chemistry research group at the Department of Physical Sciences, School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research position, who is excited about the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative research environment. The successful candidate will participate in collaborative work in drug discovery and food chemistry and will be engaged in research directed at the molecular structure and dynamics of proteins and emerging contaminants. This is a one-year appointment; however, the appointment may be renewed for an additional year contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry. The candidate must have effective oral and written communication skills. The candidate must have a working knowledge of biochemical and molecular biological laboratory procedures and should have expertise in the expression and purification of soluble proteins. The candidate is also expected to have expertise in biophysical techniques, such as magnetic resonance spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, HPLC, electrophoresis, mutagenesis and molecular biology. The successful candidate is also expected to help mentor undergraduates and graduate students in the laboratory.
