Custodian - Beirut
The Hospitality Services Office is currently looking for a Custodian reporting to the Custodial Services Supervisor. This position is based on the Beirut campus.Role Summary
The Custodian is mainly responsible for cleaning and tidying assigned indoor areas on campus. S/he ensures that all campus spaces are presentable for students, faculty, staff and visitors. Additionally, the role involves assisting with the setup and breakdown of university events, receptions, and other activities as needed.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Cleans assigned indoor campus areas such as but not limited to floors, fixtures, windows, locker rooms, classrooms, dormitories, labs, gyms equipment and common areas
- Cleans, sanitizes, disinfects and polishes campus restrooms and kitchens/kitchenettes
- Replaces tissue products and refills soap dispensaries
- Handles waste disposal and recycling as well as gathers and transports waste from assigned areas to appropriate disposal location
- Requests cleaning materials and supplies from housekeeper
- Supports and backs-up other staff members in the office as needed
- Assists with the setup, breakdown, and support of university events, receptions, and activities
- Ensures safety standards are met and reports any hazards or maintenance needs
- Maintains custodial equipment and supplies
- Performs other duties pertinent to the job as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Elementary level
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar capacity
- Good physical condition
- Good communication skills
- Customer-service oriented
- Ability to work effectively within a team
- Ability to work efficiently and independently
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to cleaning tasks
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and carry objects, bend, stoop, and occasionally climb ladders as well as handle repetitive motions like sweeping, mopping, and operating cleaning equipment. Walking and standing regularly is expected throughout the shift.
Work Schedule
The standard work schedule for this position is Monday to Friday from 6:00 am till 2:30 pm and Saturday from 6:00 am till 11:00 am. Alternate schedules may apply if needed. Attendance might be requested occasionally on weekends or holidays to support meetings or events.
