EdTech Lab Supervisor
The Center for Innovative Learning (CIL) is currently looking for an EdTech Lab Supervisor reporting to the Deputy Director of CIL. This is a central position, based on Beirut campus with occasional commuting to Byblos campus.Role Summary
The EdTech Lab Supervisor is responsible for managing a space where faculty can receive assistance in the design and utilization of technology for enhancing pedagogy with a particular focus on extended reality experiences.
S/he is responsible for working with students to develop new or tailor existing hardware and software tools to meet faculty needs. This requires seamless functioning of tools such as VR/AR equipment, online polling tools, badging tools, and other tools for pedagogical innovation.
The Supervisor will engage in recommending and introducing the latest technologies to enhance the use of technology for in-person learning. This role involves collaborating with faculty and CIL team members to translate course material into engaging technology for enhanced pedagogical experiences.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervises the daily activities of the EdTech lab, ensuring the efficient operation of all equipment for a smooth workflow
- Handles routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment; schedules repairs as needed
- Develops and implements operational procedures to ensure the efficient utilization of resources and adherence to safety protocols
- Evaluates and recommends the purchase of new equipment and software to ensure the lab’s optimal functionality
- Develops and conducts workshops and training sessions on the Unity Platform and others in support of VR Headset use in learning
- Leads XR-based related projects and initiatives
- Collaborates with faculty to develop lab modules and support the integration of XR Technology and other EdTech into courses
- Facilitates the work of LAU’s XR Taskforce
- Stays up to date with emerging technologies and trends in EdTech with a specific focus on XR
- Creates and maintains lab documentation, including user guides and operating procedures
- Collaborates with the CIL team to integrate the EdTech unit into the overall CIL offerings and events
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Instructional Technology or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of work experience within two or more of the following arenas: computer lab management, hands on experience with virtual and augmented reality tools and platforms (Oculus Quest headsets preferred), or instructional technology development and use
- Experience with Unity, Unreal Engine, or other XR development platforms
- Experience with XR technologies, including VR/AR hardware and software
- Strong technical skills and proficiency in educational technology platforms and tools
- Familiarity with online polling tools, badging systems, and other educational technology tools
- Familiarity with 3D modeling approaches and platforms
- Familiarity with 360-degree imaging
- Excellent communication skills – both oral and written
- Collaborative approach to working, fostering effective communication and exchange of ideas in a team environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on addressing challenges related to the design and use of new technology in classroom spaces
- Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining educational technology equipment
- Proactive in staying current with emerging educational technologies and tools
