Engineering Lab Supervisor - Byblos
The School of Engineering is currently looking for an Engineering Lab Supervisor reporting to the Dean. This position is based on Byblos campus with occasional commuting to Beirut campus.Role Summary
The Engineering Lab Supervisor is mainly responsible for the day-to-day operations of the engineering labs, coordinating and organizing the different functions and activities of the labs. S/he is in charge of all lab equipment ensuring they are in good operating condition, and maintains the proper scheduling of lab sessions.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Organizes and directs all daily activities of the labs such as preparing lab materials, setting up stations, calibrating equipment, and making necessary modifications before each lab session
- Maintains lab facilities, including equipment
- Performs routine lab pre-testing for all experiments to validate their accuracy. Discusses recommended changes with concerned faculty to enhance the students’ experience and update lab manuals
- Plans the development and replacement of lab equipment and facilities
- Organizes, schedules and supervises various lab sessions and other uses of the labs
- Assists students in lab projects and provides the requested support to faculty members
- Assists in academic assessment activities
- Assist in School of Engineering students’ orientation
- Maintains and updates the lab inventory of equipment and supplies
- Prepares requisition orders for all supplies and equipment needed for the lab after consulting with the concerned faculty member(s). Prepares the specifications and the recommendations after thoroughly studying all the offers
- Participates in lab instruction as per request of supervisor
- Supervises student assistants’ work in the lab
- Oversees safety of laboratories, performs quality checks, implements necessary measures to uphold safety standards, provides safety training
- Develops standard operating procedures ensuring laboratory best practices
- Provides training on research and teaching equipment
- Provides backup support when needed, to ensure continuity of operations
- Maintains the labs as a safe study space by intervening/reporting harassments and/or safety hazards of any kind according to established protocols
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering or equivalent
- 5 years of relevant work experience
- Advanced computer skills
- Advanced knowledge of lab equipment
- Excellent communication skills
- Sound analytical thinking & critical judgment
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work within a diversified team and foster a spirit of cooperation and integrity
