Project Coordinator, Sustainability
The Office for Sustainability (OfS) is currently looking for a Project Coordinator, Sustainability reporting to the Chief Sustainability Officer. This is a central position that is based on Beirut campus with occasional commuting to Byblos campus, LAU Medical Centers, and field visits outside campus.Role Summary
The Project Coordinator, Sustainability is mainly responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing the OfS projects. S/he will coordinate with students, faculty, staff, internal and external partners to ensure smooth project execution.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops, coordinates and implements OfS projects ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and within budget
- Collaborates with various University departments and stakeholders to ensure a smooth execution and engagement
- Organizes and coordinates project-related events, workshops, and seminars including material preparation and logistics to engage stakeholders and promote sustainability projects
- Tracks project progress, collects data, and reports on metrics and outcomes
- May be asked to assist with data collection, analysis, and interpretation in support of ongoing sustainability research projects
- As needed, provides support in the preparation and completion of research papers, reports, and presentations for academic and public audiences
- Assists in the preparation and development of funding proposals as well as grant applications for sustainability projects
- Reports periodically on the status and progress of work to the Chief Sustainability Officer
- Prepares and reports on data as requested
- Maintains project documentation, including schedules, budgets, and progress reports
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to sustainability and project coordination
- Acts as backup support for office staff as needed to ensure continuity of operations
- Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Science, Economics, or a related field. Masters is a plus
- Minimum 3 years of experience in project coordination, preferably within an academic setting, with focus on projects in sustainability, environment, renewable energy, climate action, and/or related fields
- Experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting, with proficiency in using tools like Excel, SPSS, or similar, is preferable
- Experience in working with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, students, and external partners
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of Arabic is essential
- Passion for sustainability and a commitment to promoting environmentally responsible practices
Work Schedule
The standard work schedule for this position is Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and may occasionally require after-hours, weekend, or holiday availability to ensure seamless project execution. This position may require occasional travel.
