Project Manager, Software Development
The LAU Industrial Hub is currently looking for a Project Manager, Software Development reporting to the Director of the LAU Industrial Hub. This is a central position that is based on Byblos campus with occasional commuting to Beirut Campus and field visits outside campus.Role Summary
The Project Manager, Software Development is responsible for overseeing and managing all software development projects within the LAU Industrial Hub. This role requires a deep understanding of full-stack development, AI/ML, web, and mobile applications, with the ability to provide technical guidance while also contributing to hands-on development when necessary. The project manager will gather requirements from clients, transform them into deliverables, and distribute tasks to the development team. They will use Agile methodologies to supervise projects, develop software when needed, and ensure successful project delivery in collaboration with faculty, students, and external experts. Additionally, the role involves engaging in industry collaborations and grant proposal preparation to support software development initiatives.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversees the planning, execution, and delivery of software development projects
- Gathers and analyzes requirements from clients and industry partners, transforming them into actionable deliverables
- Utilizes Agile software tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, Asana) to manage and track project progress
- Provides technical guidance and support in full-stack, AI/ML, web, and mobile app development
- Supervises and mentors students, junior developers, and external experts working on software projects
- Develops software solutions when necessary to ensure project success
- Coordinates with faculty supervisors and industry collaborators on the software development projects
- Monitors project progress and ensures timely completion within budget constraints
- Conducts regular meetings with project teams to review progress, address issues, and implement solutions
- Ensures all software development activities comply with relevant university regulations and industry standards
- Prepares and presents project reports to the Director of the LAU Industrial Hub
- Assists in the writing and preparation of grant proposals related to software development projects
- Fosters a collaborative and productive environment for students, faculty, and external experts
- Performs other duties pertaining to this job as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (a Master’s degree is preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, out of which 2 are in project management, with a strong track record in full-stack, AI/ML, web, and mobile app development
- Experience leading software development teams and mentoring junior developers. Experience as a Scrum Master is a plus
- Proficiency in front-end, back-end technologies ((e.g., React, Angular, Node.js, Python, Java, .NET)
- Hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn)
- Strong knowledge of databases, cloud computing, and DevOps tools
- Proficiency with Agile methodologies and software tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, Git)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
