I decided to go back to the classroom 16 years after leaving it, to pursue an MBA degree. It was challenging to be the most senior student in class most of the time, but this setup was extremely enriching for me, as it put me well in tune with fresh ideas, excitement and new experiences. I felt challenged again, and this was extremely rejuvenating for both mind and soul.
Classes started in person then moved online, and towards the end, back to in person. Thus, I had the opportunity to experience both course delivery methods which was a very enriching.
The most memorable experience was having a Harvard-style case with a very engaging faculty member and a small team of extremely skilled classmates. We had to follow a specific model and solve the case within a set time frame, providing answers and reactions quickly. This was during my last course, and it was definitely my favorite!
Making the decision to go back to university with a full-time job and three kids was a very hard decision to make. I started off slowly to allow myself to get used to the rhythm again, and then I started accelerating the pace to be able to finish the degree within 3 years.
I had a lot of support at home which allowed me to juggle studies and caring for the kids in the best way possible, and all that after long office hours. Thankfully, I was able to manage all these rather smoothly without affecting my work or my family.
I am thankful to LAU to have given me this opportunity to pursue a graduate education that surely enhanced my knowledge and skills, and gave me a great experience and that will hopefully enhance my career.
