LAUers in More Ways than One

Nada Torbey

My dear Aya,

Ever since you were a little girl you had a gift – you were born to be in the performing arts. Singing and acting have always been your passion. It was always obvious to me that you would be studying performing arts at LAU, as if the major was made for you!

This curriculum has given you the technique and opened doors for you to showcase your talent in Lebanon and abroad.

Growing up in a family where your father is an actor, you understood the instability that comes with a career in the arts. That is why I was able to easily convince you to study marketing as well. You also understood that marketing will help you in your career as an artist because of the image you would have to build, and because the business field can provide a form of stability for your future.

I admire your passion, your courage to be on stage, your academic achievements, and your dedication to everything you do.

I am glad that LAU offered you two majors that will help you in your future. The opportunities you got during your undergraduate years are the dream of many artists. To travel as a singer in an orchestra, to go to New York City and be part of a play with the students of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and many more opportunities…

For all of that, I thank LAU, I thank you for your hard work and for graduating with distinction. You make me proud!
