During my three years at LAU, I took part in several extracurricular activities, clubs, and competitions, which enriched my experience, helped me meet new people, and gain valuable knowledge.
Before starting university, I was confused about my choice of major. After several volunteering experiences that stimulated my passion for community service, I decided to pursue Social Work at LAU, and this was one of the best decisions I made, as it turned out to be very rewarding.
The university opened many doors, such as training, coordinating, and translating for the Outreach and Civic Engagement Department (OCE). I am also proud to have received a full scholarship from the Middle East Partnership Initiative–Tomorrow’s Leaders Program. All these opportunities helped me develop my identity, socialize with people from different backgrounds, and have a clear vision for my future.
Throughout my journey, I became a scholar in Tomorrow’s Leaders Gender Scholars Program (TLS) where I developed my research and debating skills. I was also a student advisory board member and trainer at the LAU Fouad Makhzoumi Innovation Center, served as secretary of the Social Work Club, worked as a media relations coordinator for OCE, and assisted staff at the Arab Institute for Women (AiW).
The multiple roles helped me reap rewards. In 2022, I won the second-place award in the Regional Arts Competition organized by UN ESCWA and AIW. I also completed the Undergraduate Research and Discovery program and was selected to take part in the Laure Moghaizel Training Program organized by AiW.
This summer, I will be attending the five-week Student Leaders Program at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
I will forever be grateful for the wonderful experience I had at LAU, which helped me shape my personality, develop my knowledge, and always look forward to more success, as I plan to pursue a master’s degree in Migration Studies at LAU.
