The First Years
2004
Dr. Jabbra assumes presidency of LAU.
2005
Dr. Jabbra is inaugurated as the eighth president of LAU.
LAU embarks on a five-year Strategic Plan (SPI) based on five pillars: excellence in academic and other facets of university life, student centeredness, increased role of alumni, promotion of LAU as a major learning center in the region and effective use of financial resources.
2007
Dr. Jabbra establishes the Nancy and Joseph G. Jabbra Endowment Scholarship Fund.
2008
Launch of the Campaign for Excellence: The Legacy and the Promise as part of the university’s First Strategic Plan (SPI). The plan aims to enhance three areas: student support, focused primarily on financial aid and merit scholarships; academic support, intended for encouraging educational and professional development, and establishing endowed chairs; and facilities development, aimed at campus expansion and the improvement of existing physical resources.
The Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine enters its construction phase.
2009
Expansion and Prosperity
2010
The Alice Ramez Chagoury School of Nursing admits its first class.
SPI, supported by the Legacy and the Promise Campaign is completed, raising $67.5 million.
2011
LAU embarks on its second Strategic Plan 2011-2016, focused on taking the university to the next level of academic excellence, supported by the Fulfilling the Promise campaign.
All undergraduate degree programs at the School of Engineering are formally accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
The BS in Computer Science becomes the first ABET-accredited computer science program in Lebanon.
Inauguration of Frem Civic Center on the Byblos campus.
2012
The Chagoury Health Sciences Center is completed to host the LAU schools of medicine, nursing and pharmacy.
Acquisition of the Gezairi Building to house the School of Architecture and Design.
2013
2014
The newly named Adnan Kassar School of Business receives accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
The Chagoury Health Sciences Center is formally inaugurated.
2015
The accreditation of the PharmD program by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) is extended for another eight years.
2016
Inauguration of the Wadad Sabbagh Khoury Student Center.
SPII sustained by the Fulfilling the Promise fundraising campaign, raised $103 million, surpassing its goal of $100 million.
2017
LAU embarks on its Third Strategic Plan (SPIII) to foster intellectual capital and pedagogical innovation, and to position LAU as a university without borders.
The Clinical Simulation Program is accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Groundbreaking ceremony kicks off the construction of the Antoun Nabil Sehnaoui-SGBL Athletics Center.

2018
The LAU Louis Cardahi Foundation is inaugurated.
The LAU Fouad Makhzoumi Innovation Center established as a hub for the incubation and acceleration of bold new ideas.
Opening of new library on Byblos campus.
Acquisition of St John’s Hospital in Jounieh.
2019
2020
The Bachelor of Architecture becomes the first in Lebanon to be fully accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB).
LAU becomes an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art & Design (NASAD).
The BS in Nutrition and Dietetics Coordinated Program is granted candidacy for accreditation by the accrediting agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in the US.
In an address broadcast on July 12, Dr. Jabbra conferred the degrees upon more than 2,000 graduates from both campuses for one final time after 16 years of service to LAU.
